Misswonda - In Flawless XQJE-1002 ReviewThis is a very fresh sounding recording. Much use of space and atmosphere in the recording. The music is almost entirely instrumental in parts and it is very appealingly layered too - lots going on in each song. However, Misswonda adds her characteristic soft breathy voice to the songs in a way that reminscent of 1960s French singers like Jane Birkin or, more recently, Charlotte Gainsbourg and Alison Goldfrapp.
Played quietly, this would make very stylish and agreeable lounge music, but played louder, it could be used in a club or at a party when sophisticated "soft" Techno is required. The remixes featured on the album maintain the mood of quiet but joyful contemplation. The Plus-Tech Squeeze Box remix of one of the songs is very agreeable.
I may add that Misswonda composes some very memorable melodies and uses some rather nice harmonies and key changes in her songs. She writes lovely music that seems to have an inner glow.
