Lonely Town ReviewJust when you thought you'd heard it all, up pops "Lonely Town" featuring trombonist musician extraordinaire ~ Alan Kaplan. His style evokes the late Jackie Gleason recordings "Music For Lovers Only", featuring the late Bobby Hackett on trumpet ~ those were the days of lush soft lonely melodies filled with the standards that became and went on to become classics. This is such an album ~ taking fifteen songs (best music on the planet) with some of the finest arrangers in the business today. And the orchestra behind Kaplan is to die for ~ Bill Cunliffe's arrangement of "ANGEL EYES" was nominated for a Grammy in the category of Best Instrumental Arrangement...this is a winner hands down. Every selection on this album is so romantic and overflowing given to pure perfection and performed with adoring love. You can feel each movement within the orchestra as Kaplan is front and center with every delivery ~ just listen to "EMILY", beautiful arrangement by Joe Curiale and Kaplan's style comes shining through, an impeccable performance with overwhelming character. My only other comment is Alan don't stop with just this one ~ we want and need more of the the same. And you thought they don't make 'em like that anymore ~ Alan Kaplan arrives on the scene. The music world is crying for "More Lonely Town", don't keep 'em waiting forever ~ this is a must have for all connoisseurs of fine music.
