Enbryonics ReviewIt's always been kind of difficult to describe Alchemist's sound. It's thrashy death metal that for some reason brings to mind the rawness of Amebix. It's psychedelic, intelligent, ambient, yet it doesn't bore you to tears like Neurosis. It incorporates "spacey" sounds; the keyboard itself is an integral part of the music. At times it gives it a `retro' sound from the `80s (not retro as in "retro-thrash"), and overall, the music is very atmospheric and enjoyable. What you get here is 28 tracks and 2 discs with two and a half hour of music. Included are six tracks from the band's first three albums, six demo songs, and other rarities/live goodies.
