Space Vampires Vs. Zombie Dinosaurs in 3-D ReviewPerhaps the most ambitious work of Psychostick thus far, this album has a little bit of something for everyone and is a definite must-have for any fan of Psychostick, or any fan of metal in general. Period.Musically, you can tell that the band is heavily influenced by several genres. From the funk-inspired bass slaps in "Because Boobs" (which, perhaps intentionally, are reminiscent of stereotypical background music in pornographic films) to the doom-metal-esque, "thick" sound of "The Root of All Evil", this album really showcases the versatility and talent of the band.
Because the music is so well-composed, it's often easy to forget that this is a comedy band. That is, until you find yourself singing along to lyrics like, "Don't you hate when you buy real estate with a loan with a high interest rate?" and "You've gotta be accountable for the products of your ass". Like all of Psychostick's previous work, this album is lighthearted and fun, but the comedy has been taken up a notch (to eleven!). Who else would write a great instrumental song and add the growling of a six pound dog, just because it's funny? No one. That's who.
While fans of some of Psychostick's earlier work may not appreciate some of the lighter songs on this album, they will love "Hate Times Eight", "Welcome to the Show", "Sadface :(", and "The Root of All Evil", which are not only heavy, but probably the best songs that Psychostick has ever written.
Also, not to be ignored is the fact that this album contains the first studio recording of "Numbers", a parody of Drowning Pool's "Bodies" and a fan favorite at their live shows. The album also briefly parodies Marilyn Manson's "The Beautiful People" and the Internet meme "The Bed Intruder Song" (aka Hide Yo Kids Hide Yo Wife).
Continuing in the tradition of Weird Al Yankovic and Green Jelly, Psychostick's Space Vampires VS Zombie Dinosaurs in 3D is a force to be reckoned with. Just buy it. You will not be disappointed.Space Vampires Vs. Zombie Dinosaurs in 3-D Overview
